The Foundation for the Advancement of Cycling is an independent not-for-profit charitable foundation that advocates the advancement of cycling, particularly bicycle commuting, by giving away bicycles to qualifying individuals who wish to end their dependency on cars.
The Foundation for the Advancement of Cycling (a foundation in the course of incorporation) was endowed by German writer and cycling enthusiast Uve C., with a euro amount in the five-digit range. Once legally established, the Foundation for the Advancement of Cycling will purchase and give away – completely free of charge – bicycles to qualifying individuals.
How to apply (Bewerbungen)
Explain to us in a few choice words why you should be the recipient of a free bicycle. How does it fit your commuting needs? You don't have to restrict yourself to text. We also accept photos (with additional text), blogs, websites – anything we can look at without having to touch paper.
What counts is your enthusiasm and your commitment: we can only give you a bicycle if you give up driving for at least 12 months. (Yes, there is a form you will have to sign; if you've never held a driver's license, you should keep it that way.) Otherwise, there are absolutely no strings attached. The bike will be yours fair and square.
Too good to be true? Yes, absolutely.
Again, if you have the commitment to give up driving and want to ride your bike to work (it's OK to use your folding bicycle in conjunction with public transportation), then please contact the Foundation.
